SMCHA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
November 8, 2001

The SMCHA Board met Nov. 8, 2001 at 9:00 am at the Eden Church with Arnold
Wedel presiding. Present were Arnold Wedel, Delbert Goering, Maynard
Krehbiel, Harold Schrag, Glenn Stucky and Vernell Kaufman. Rich
Preheim, Leann Toews, Ozzie Goering and Ben Stucky were absent.

Minutes of the Oct. 4 meeting were reviewed and approved by consensus.

Delbert gave the treasurer's report.

Savings $1,923.77
Cemetery Endowment $14,064.11
Money Market $5,305.17

Banquet Expenses: 150 meals @$7 = $1,050

Musicians $50

Motion by Maynard, seconded by Glenn to accept the treasurer's report.  Carried.

Favorable comments were given concerning the Schweitzer Fall Festival program and the Fall banquet.

Not much to report on the Web--a little behind with putting on information.

92 donors gave $10,987.55 towards the cemetery building. Expenses to date--$8,438.98 plus expenses not part of Galen's estimate (architect, surveyor, et.) $1177.49. Cemetery bulletin board has not arrived as yet. Question was raised whether Peter J. P. Schrag should be recognized in some way, maybe a plaque because he gave the seed money for the building. Maynard was asked to contact Von Peterson about a estimate for restoring the graves in the cemetery. Abe and Eva Neufeld and Ted and Marlys Voran have reserved burial plots in the cemetery. Motion by Glenn, seconded by Delbert that the eight cemetery plots that have been sold have been approved by the board. Carried. Motion made and carried that cemetery plots are available subject to board approval.

Discussed membership dues and banquet tickets. Nothing decided.

Annual meeting date is Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002. Arnold will alert the nominating committee. It was reported that Victor Stucky has resigned from the nominating committee and Arnold will take care of the matter.

Glen moved, Harold seconded that we adjourn. Carried. Adjourned at 10:30. Next meeting--Breakfast meeting, Thursday morning, Jan.3, 2002 at 8am at the home of Maynard Krehbiel.
