SMCHA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
|
|
| The SMCHA Board met June 6, 2002 at 9am in the
Eden Church Fellowship Hall with Arnold Wedel presiding as chairman. Present
were Arnold Wedel, Gary Stucky, Leann Toews, Harold Schrag and Vernell Kaufman.
Maynard Krehbiel, Ben Stucky, Rich Preheim, Jay Goering and Ozzie Goering were
absent. Minutes of the May 2 meeting were reviewed. It was noted that more detailed information should be given about the treasurer's report and can be included in the June 6 minutes. Minutes accepted by consensus. In the absence of the treasurer, no treasurer's report was given at the meeting. Update on the SMCHA accounts: 4-29-02 Checking Account $2,217.38 Cemetery Endowment Fund $14,227.63 Swiss Money Market $5,389.43 Cemetery Building Fund $1,954.32 6-5-02 Checking Account $2,411.07 Cemetery Endowment Fund $14,295.49 Swiss Money Market $5,389.43 Cemetery Building Fund $1,954.32 Cemetery update was given. The stone markers have not arrived as yet. Temporary stakes should be put up. The cracks around the monument cannot be repaired with concrete. They will have to be covered with bricks. Memorial Home has leftover bricks available at no cost. Galen Waltner is willing to do the work. Bindweeds need to be sprayed around the monument. Maynard and Ben are appointed to do this. Gary will check with David Stucky to see if he is willing to be contact person for the Kingman Mennonite Church. A list of SMCHA members needs to be compiled. New members have been added since the mailing of the newsletter. Arnold will talk to Jay. Betty Hartzler agreed to be on the Web committee. Since T. James Goering was not able to be at the meeting, Arnold commented on his written report. J. O. Schrag is exploring the possibility of reissuing his earlier recording of "Unsere Leite" in CD form and is willing to have them sold through the Mennonite home page. The Board and John would have to decide what price to charge, how much would be retained by John and who would do the packing, billing, mailing, et. of those who buy the CD on the web. If produced in time, they could be sold at Fall Fest, Fall Banquet and also on the web. Suggested price was $15, John needs to be contacted as to the amount he wants, then the Art Goering family to see if this would also be satisfactory with them since Art Goering made the second side of the record. Harold will talk to Jim Ostlund and Gary will talk to Kelly Stucky about the details of making a CD. Who could produce it? Is there a minimum to be ordered? Etc. By consensus it was decided to go ahead with the project. Gary reported on the By-laws Committee. Don E. Schrag agreed to be our legal counsel for SMCHA. LaDeen Frey will also serve on the By-laws Committee. The committee came up with two proposals.
Discussion was held about having a banquet in spring rather than in fall.
Motion by Gary, seconded by Leann that we have a spring banquet in 2003 but
have it announced at our fall banquet in 2002. Motion carried. |
