Several members helped present the year in review. Donna Neufeld reported on the newsletter, "Schweitzer Salt." About 2000 were printed and some are still available. 12000 were distributed through 21 churches. 200 were mailed to individuals outside these churches. The approximate cost of the newsletter was $195. $660 was received as a direct result of the newsletter. The second newsletter will come out next week. Donna asked for ideas and support.

Vic Goering gave the SMCHA Webpage report. He encouraged us to bring up the home page at least once a month. Each month there is a special feature. He listed some of the specials that have been on or will be coming on. Dennis Quiring is our web master. To date there have been more than 1900 "hits."

Oswald Goering reported that the scholarship committee recommends that $500 scholarships be given to Joe Sawatsky and Ruth Harder and if enough funds are available half a scholarship ($250) to Jim Ostlund.

Harold Schrag gave the cemetery report. The main project was installing stone posts at the end of each row of graves as markers, A-Z. The listing of the names of those buried in the cemetery will be placed in the display case. Thanks were expressed to the Hopefield Church for mowing the cemetery and the grounds around the marker and to those who helped install the stone posts.

Arnold Wedel mentioned some other highlights of the past year.

Seven board meetings--Scott Waltner is representing Hopefield. Planted a historic oak tree near the monument at Hopefield, March 14,2002 Fall Festival with Lowell Goering as moderator Fall Banquet with James W. Krehbiel as speaker.

Membership dues were discussed. Suggestion was made by Vic Goering that dues be $25.

Comments were given concerning a name change. The by-laws committee had proposed that Swiss Mennonite Cultural and Historical Association be changed to Swiss Volhynian Mennonite Cultural and Historical Association. This would identify which group of Swiss Mennonites we are.  Not everyone agreed that it should be changed.

Rick Krehbiel presented the ballot for the election. Motion made to close the nominations and cast a unanimous vote for the ballot. Motion passed. The following were elected:

Vice President Roger Juhnke
Secretary Waneta Goering
Trustees LaVera Schrag, Wayne Stucky

Jay Goering presented the proposed budget of $5330 for 2003. Motion by Ozzie Goering, seconded by Rick Krehbiel that we adopt the proposed budget. Motion carried.
